Heart of the Home
The Dahlia flower symbolizes the drawing upon inner strength to succeed.
This room was the true heart of the home, the kitchen, and represents well the strength of our early-American ancestors and their desire to succeed in their strange, new land.
Located on the ground floor, this room is Elms of Camden's flagship room and an excellent choice for guests with mobility issues. The original 1806 cooking fireplace and stove is trimmed by wide plank moldings and rich pumpkin wide-pine wood floors. A large bay window lets in plenty of light and high ceilings add to the feeling of spaciousness and airiness of this charming room. In order to preserve the 1806 cooking fireplace and stove, there is no gas fireplace but comfortable baseboard heat.
This large room is furnished with a queen-size mahogany bed dressed with custom bedding. Comfy reading chairs give you a place to relax at the end of the day. Enjoy the luxury of the spacious tile bath with whirlpool tub and shower. Air conditioning keeps you comfortable during summer months. A flat-screen TV allows you to keep up with the comings and goings of the outside world...should you choose to!
